I would like to take pleasure in welcoming our special guests the parents of our learners ,our LittleGraduatesSchools little VVIP learners , my fellow  LittleGraduatesSchools practitioners best  known as teachers and most of all our partners from Phyzz  Ed,Catrobatkids ,Ballet school and Learn to Swim coaches.

Today marks our very first time Minni Sports Academy and Art Celebration Day and I am happy that you and I are part of this special day.

My name is Deborah Mbogoma the co-founder and CEO of The LittleGraduatesSchools in South Africa. LittleGraduatesSchools celebrates its 11th year by the end of 2018 .a decade of successful Early Childhood Development with unforgettable beautiful moments.

After a decade of observation I have come to realize the benefits of introducing sports, arts and cultural activities in early childhood education. The purpose of an institution of early learning is to develop the child holistically so as to introduce basic skills of life and assist in navigating the young mind to the right direction without fear, favor or discrimination.

Equality plays a big role in our policies and we surely raising a generation of learners with a great self esteen, advanced academic knowledge and most of all with the most adorable morals. So by introducing the Sports Academy for all, our aim is to enlarge the learners’ capacity in exploring their abilities and develop knowledge and love of another type of education whilst keeping fit.

We have heard stories of sportsman who are making a living with sports alone therefore sporting and arts is also a career that will flourish well enough if it is nurtured from the early years of a child.

there are a lot of benefits of arts in Early Childhood Development but just to mention a few.

  • High quality arts or cultural experiences in early childhood can help children develop subsequent abilities in the arts which will be useful right through life.
  • Early years arts and cultural activities can help children make sense of their cognitive, physical, emotional, spiritual, linguistic, and moral development by enhancing the whole curriculum.
  • Early childhood arts and cultural activities can significantly strengthen parent-child bonds and engage families in their children’s learning, providing a positive focus for shared experience and communication.
  • Stimulating and compelling experiences at museums, galleries, theaters, libraries, dance, arts or music venues will offer many parents the ideas, confidence and resources to play with their children as a natural part of everyday life.
  • Early years arts and cultural activities can help develop intrinsic human qualities, such as creativity, expression, identity, culture and imagination. As well as helping to preserve our cultural heritage, they enable young children to develop their own languages which help shape their individual, community and global identity.
  • Early years arts experiences can impact positively on confidence, self-esteem, personal, social, emotional development and behavioral health, breaking down language barriers, cultural prejudices or societal differences, and leading to decreased social problems, reduced inequality and increased creativity.
  • Collaborations that encompass the perspective of arts or cultural professionals, early year’s professionals, children and parents can bring vibrancy to learning that results in a much deeper understanding of, and attention to, a child’s needs and interests. This leads to sustainable progression, raising standards of achievement, and a sense of fulfillment for both teachers and children both immediately and later on in life.

Children who take part in organized sports receive many social, mental and psychological benefits over and above those that come from general physical activity.

Healthy habits

Starting a child in an organized sport gives them a healthy habit of physical activity to see them right through to adulthood and help them ward off many age- and weight-related ailments. Even before adulthood, teens who take part in sports are less likely to smoke, do drugs or abuse alcohol.


Learning the rules and techniques of a new sport and training for a particular purpose can give a child self-discipline that they can employ both on and off the field. Sports often help children learn that working hard helps them to achieve a goal.

Social skills and teamwork

When many people think of organized sports, team sports often spring to mind. Sports such as baseball, hockey or basketball can teach children to trust and rely on others to achieve common goals, value everyone’s individual strengths and put collective needs before individual wants.

Improved mental health

Taking part in a sport can greatly improve a child’s sense of self-worth. Whether it is the satisfaction of mastering a dribble or beating a personal best, sports-related exercise enables children to gain confidence in their skills. In an era of excessive focus on appearance, sports also provide an outlet for children, especially girls, to focus not on what their bodies look like but on what they can do. This has the knock-on benefit of improved body image.


Taking part in anything competitive requires an ability to handle disappointments and accept personal responsibility for any mistakes. It can take a while for children – and some adults – to learn not to blame others when things go wrong. However, organized sports can teach important lessons about the value of taking part rather than winning and about using setbacks as learning opportunities.

Going forward

Parents MUST be part of their children’s school’s activities, academically, socially and culturally which will strike a very good balance between the mental health and fitness skills of the child to belong in the social spectrum.
